excerpt from "the luck of an atenean".... by fr. magadia
now i dont feel bad at all about this loss...
"It is not just about being in the right place at the right time. it is about being at the right place and the right time and recognizing that one is there and then being prepared and ready to take it, head on, with courage, with magnanimity, with great generosity, with hard work and blood and sweat and tears. it takes posture of Ignatius de Loyola, the man kneeling with the swod in hs hand offering his whole lie to those he loves, reserving nothing for himself, but giving his all... always ready for that moment when opportunity strikes and he captures every moment when he knows he can deliver best for the sake of the people he loves. that is what luck is all about."
"in the end that is what makes an Atenean an Atenean. it is not luck in the ordinary sense of the word. it is luck seen with the eyes of God. it is to see in a problem, not an obstacle but an opportunity.. and to do everything in his power to prepare himself or herself for all the opportunities that life has to offer."
now i know why i love ateneo so much... and why i wouldnt want to trade my place and be in somewhere else..... this is the ateneo.... and i'm more than glad to be an atenean.
thank you Blue Eagles. for inspiring all of us and showing us what MAGIS is truly about. it is always a pleasure cheering for you... till season 68 and beyond!
*i read this in the new book of ORP "Magis".. though i heard this already from IGNITE ORSEM2003 Mass as it was the homily of fr. Magadia

this season is my last season (hopefully.. hehehe) as an undergrad in the ateneo... but this season made me realize so much about what the ateneo gave me for the past 4 years...
yesterday's game made me feel proud to be an atenean. it made me think that in the Ateneo, one realizes that life is not just about studying, nor is it just about making new friends, more so it is not just about basketball... rather it is about finding oneself among all the others, and yet realizing that we are part of a whole, it is about realizing our potentials---living an extraordinary life in this mundane world...
but the best thing i realized is that Ateneo is not just a school, not just a community... but a way of life.
it is so amazing how we come as a community to give our support till the bitter end. it is all so overwhelming. made me proud to be BLUE (yes, all pun intended)
