inspired from the luck of an atenean

i woke up today. reaching for a book on my night table. it is a book entitled "magis". it is a collection of stories and essays by teachers, Jesuits and the like on the different ateneo values. i opened to an essay that was entitled "the luck of an atenean" by fr. magadia.

keeping the ateneo game in mind...i was reading a few lines and suddenly it seems so familiar. ...
alas.. it was the homily taht was said during the ignite orsem.

"it is not just about being in the right place at the right time. it is about being at the right place and the right time and recognizing that one is there and then being prepared and ready to take it, head on, with courage, with magnanimity, with great generosity, with hard work and blood and sweat and tears. it takes posture of Ignatius de Loyola, the man kneeling with the swod in hs hand offering his whole lie to those he loves, reserving nothign for himself, but giving his all... always ready for that moment when opportunity strikes and he captures every moment when he knows he can delivers best for the sake of the people he loves. that is what luck is all about."

"in the end that is what makes an Atenean an Atenean. it is not luck in the ordinary sense of the word. it is luck seen with the eyes of God. it is to see in a problem, not an obstacle but an opportunity.. and to do everything in his power to prepare himself or herself for all the opportunities that life has to offer."

now i know why i yearn to be atenean. why i love to be in ateneo.. and why i wouldnt want to trade my place and be in dlsu. this is the ateneo and i'm more than glad to be an atenean. ONE BIG FIGHT!
