On Heroism

"On Behalf of NAMFREL Quezon City, This is Don Rapadas, Signing off from our tabulation Center here in Ateneo. Successfully tabulated 91% of 4553 collected ERs or 90% of 5049 ERs of QC. Ad Mejorem dei Gloriam!"

As i thought that the work has lost its cause, especially with 2004 elections.. I'm just too glad to be part of this one.

Volunteerism is not just raising your hand and do the task as needed. It is not also just because you love the work and the recognition and that feeling of heroism that takes over you at that fullfilment point.
This is of course not my first time to have ever volunteered. With volumes of events i have done back in highschool and college, i think my NAMFREL experience is he culmination of ALL that events of the past.

I have to say, volunteerism is a game. You dont join because you love it, but because you like to conquer its cause, to emerge as hereos who learned through rough experience, to advance in life through that full immersion and exposure. You tend to submit yourself to the famous champion, yet you end up in triumph-- no matter what. You'd throw yourself to senseless rules that only you could ever understand and it seems that the point system goes on by itself while you were just waiting for things to just fall into place. As like in any game, there are those who win, there are those who loses but what hurts the most is coming as second-- that feeling that you could have done more---i was already there and i let it slip pass me.

in any of those events that passed through me, i always had that feeling, that i could have done something more even if i have conquered the world. Even if i have given my all , i knew i could do more.

.... to the friends i met along this avenue called NAMFREL QC 2007--- miren, leah, japs, noche, jq (maski hindi lang now) and don.. SALAMAT sa LAHAT.

*sheltered*allowance*sure?*ERs*unreadable(like totally)*inconsistent*roar*confetti*

.. ANd all the tomorrows seem brighter with hope as well....
