Woe to the EU

i cant believe i'm actually updating myself with these kind of news. probably the feel of opening the door after knock on emplyoment's door. but my god.. after all the EU happenings these days. the deepening vision of the EU is faltering..

taken from BBC:
A bitter war of words has erupted among EU states after the failure to reach an agreement on the union's future budget.

JEAN-CLAUDE JUNCKER, LUXEMBOURG PRIME MINISTER

People will tell you that Europe is not in a crisis - it is a profound crisis... I am sad and ashamed to a certain extent. I am ashamed by some of what I heard.

JACQUES CHIRAC, FRENCH PRESIDENT

Personally, I deplore the fact that Britain refused to pay a fair and reasonable share of the cost of enlargement... It is pathetic and tragic.

TONY BLAIR, UK PRIME MINISTER

I'm not prepared to have someone tell me there is only one view of what Europe is. Europe isn't owned by any of them, Europe is owned by all of us.

JACK STRAW, UK FOREIGN SECRETARY

If people are caught up for 36 hours in a soulless building in Brussels, tempers are going to fray... It is in many ways a sad day for Europe. But out of this sad day there is an opportunity to reconnect.

GERHARD SCHROEDER, GERMAN CHANCELLOR

This is one of the gravest crises Europe has ever experienced... An agreement failed because of the completely stubborn attitudes of the UK and the Netherlands.

GORAN PERSSON, SWEDISH PRIME MINISTER

[Tony Blair] is a world politician and, on top of that, a world politician who has succeeded in being re-elected recently, in contrast to some other of the union's leaders... I would guess that Blair's position will be strengthened.

BERTIE AHERN, IRISH PRIME MINISTER

This is not good. The meeting was bad. Relations were bad. It was very hostile, even bitter... I don't like to see grown men bickering.

JOSE LUIS ZAPATERO, SPANISH PRIME MINISTER

I don't think this debate is negative, it is enriching.

AND CAN I JUST SAY I LOVE THE SWEEDS?!

The EU does not exist only for the benefit of the UK
Niclas, Uppsala, Sweden

so to all euroskeptics out there, i do hope you'll give the EU a chance. because honestly, i believe in the EU like how i believe in the UN. :)
