Masters Degree: Who You?

Recently, i had to update my resume because my Alma mater was asking for a copy as they were inviting me to speak in front of graduating students about my life after three years out of college.

"Pursuing Masters in Entrepreneurship"

I had to stop aghast and say, Really? Angela Raymond G. Ferreria  is actually writing this on her resume?... Rewind back 2005... i was ready to conquer the world with no idea whatsoever except the passion on organizing events. I took that road, checked the signs, but my car lack gas that i did not even get out of the highway. So i found a cafe on the corner and took a good sip of coffee.

Fastforward 2008, I sit in my little work place in DVM in AIM. Reading, analyzing and criticizing case studies that would always take me to my cafe, realizing what i have to go thru  to actually bring my business out to the highway. Masters, especially the program i am taking is very much different to the 21 years of private schooling. No exams, No quizzes, No orals, No written exams-- It's just getting to that VMOKRAPISPATRes coupled by EAs, IAs and grilling sessions with drill masters and gurus.  It's fun, really! Realizing your self worth, purpose and how you would be able to handle yourself in the middle of Sir EdMo's class as he uses his intuition and wit to pick a name from his class list to open the case.  (i've gone thru fr. dacanay, Ma'am Lydia Yu Jose and other stricter professors back at the hill so this was not much of a surprise to me).

The academics are surely fun. But the friendships in any of the educational levels i took is much more fun. Lunch breaks turned into sudden trips to places unknown and even a mani pedi in the middle of the day to catch up on our snooze because we all had to work nights before as we were going to be away from the businesses for our weekend class (nice excuse to spa huh?).

But what will never be far different from grade school, high school and college from my masters batch is the issues between friends, issues between classmates and of course the late night gimiks that only those who fly in every two weeks could ever understand. It's a funny -ha-ha-, spanking my leg haha issues on how i've carried the 'scandalizing' title over the years. Not to mention that the group i am with is as scandalizing as i am as well. Love talks and quarrels.. perfect marriage vs perfect love... it's just all the same topics but in a different venue, different perspectives.. yet with I, more mature and experienced.

I took the chance to fix my case studies that is almost about a tree stump the past week as well, and i chanced upon the brochure of AIM -ME program. It jilted a smile as i was flipping thru it because it reminded me that it's not all about just the program, the feathers that will add to my hat after i finish but pluses that goes with it. The network of friends that you build between those classes, the memories you build as you choose the best place to eat, and the notes you share--not of the case studies-- but of the life experience of both businesses and personal.

Perhaps someday, fast forward december 2008, when i get to update my resume with
"Masters in Entrepreneurship, distinction" (NAX... nangangarap lang guys!) I would stop aghast and say "Wow, so that was my 5 year plan out of college, here's to my 5 year plan for my business"
