Gourmet meals tasting date!

Pierre has been persistent with me about joining him to this gourmet meal tasting date for his classmate in culinary school for about a week or two. Finally, after so many “pleases” and “it will be fun” I finally agreed. One would ask why I wouldn’t agree to free food and a date… well actually, right now, I really don’t know why I didn’t want to go.

Pierre initially toured me around his school and met his friends who I only hear over the phone teasing pi whenever I call or Pierre calls me up after their class. They were fun to be with especially the way the critic the food—from a mere “ok lang” to “they should have used orange zest to garnish to emphasize on the orangy taste…. The raspberry compliments the mizuno leaves—tasty combination... they should have added... panalo sa plating... ”

There were 12 dishes to be tasted. Yes, 12… and we only got to 6 since cafĂ© manager anj had a shift to go to for the night… depressing much!!

So here’s a list of the sumptuous lunch we had. Thanks to Jenny for inviting me!

Set 1
Garlic Prawn Salad with Raspberry Dressing

Pierre’s rating: 8
Anj rating: 10
It was a mix of greens (lolo rosso, mizunos, and ice berg lettuce) with
Mango and pomelo—Drizzled with raspberry dressing—FRESH RASPBERRY YUM!

Cream of Orange and Carrot

Pierre’s rating: 8
Anj Rating: 10
Fusion of carrots and shallots (me thinks) with freshly squeeze orange
juice!)

Pan fried Maya Maya with white wine dill sauce, mashed potatoes, pesto, topped with arugula onions
Pierre’s rating: 9
Anj rating: 10

The fish was cooked very well… the mashed potatoes were awesome
and the pesto… mmmm pesto…

Set 2

Nicoise Salad

Pierre Rating: 8
Anj Rating: 10

Heavy salad for one. Mixed tuna, greens, egg, olives, etc etc.

Seafood chowder

Pierre rating: 9
Anj Rating 10

The fresh shrimp balls and the clams were sooooo yummy!! I have to
say, this was one hellava soup!

Lamb shanks with brown sauce wth red wine, sided with baked potatoes and bacon wrapped asparagus
Pierre rating: 8
Anj rating: 10

Though not a fan of lambs, the lamb was chewy (anya, should it be
choweeehhh?) ☺

well as you can see, my rating versus pierre's rating.. i'm just an eater.. nothing less nor more...

I just missed the 6 other plates: ceasar salad, pumpkin cappuccino and osso bocco to name a few.

There’s another one next week. Asian dishes this time. Ooohh can’t wait.. I swear no more duties for me this Sunday! Hahaha
