nice nice hong kong and other stories

I was 1 year old and 4 months when i took myfirst travel. It was a family christmas trip to hong kong -- in business class-- which i do not AT ALL remember. A familiar tale is always told when hong kong is being discussed in the family. The day we were to leave for my first travel, my brother, acky,2 years in 2 months, took my hand right after passing through Philippine airport immigration (duty free) and said "angela, nice nice hong kong noh?". Thinking that Duty Free was HONG KONG.

Fast forward to 22 years later.. My brother studies in Hong Kong. I could never be less proud of my brother at this point of his life. He is now 3 months away from home and is tasting independce at its very sense. Me and my sister took a 4 day vacation last week to visit him and get that "three magugulos" bonding. Perhaps, i hope not though, the last before my sister goes to marriage land.

it was a terrific 4 day vacation. Though A LOT OF WALKING.. which is proportional to the shopping we did , it was one great holiday. We do not exactly have photos (or until acky sends us our harbour photos) so those will have to wait.

Three hours out from the airport, we were already trifft shopping in Causeway bay with a 2 for 150 and 3 for 100 bargains. we were shopping left and right and the magical "IKEA" came into view-- had a hay day looking for new items for the shop! Later that night, we were meeting acky's classmates in mongkok. We had a mouthfull of shanghai delights! It was also fun meeting his friends (amic, jenny, ricky and stefy)... watching them was totally hillarious-- though i needed subtitles since they also spoke a mouthful of chinese!

We decided to try a different side of hong kong too. We headed for Stanley beach the next day and i have to say, it was a mix of plaka (greece), venice, naples and a whole lot of capri! the market was just great-- a got a linen dress for Hk$39! a bargain or what?! We didnt exactly see the beach because it was being constructed-- the path towards there. So we headed back to central for... more shopping. we went to the esquinitas of central and did the same skimming through at grandville and cameron road strip.

We also went around acky's area- hung hom and went to wan phoa for --- moooree shopping!! Lex and i actually wanted to buy something "big" to remind us of the travel. I'll let you guess what i got for myself:)

We saw A WHOLE LOT OF HONG KONG and yes, i have to say "Acky, nice nice hong kong noh?"

Going back home isnt exactly what i wanted to do (though i was missing pi a whole lot.. one text a day doesnt seem to work much!), but when i got back, i was in for a new event project which makes me go back to college (sad to say, minus the great friends and the classes..) i am now bound working for the polsci dept teachers. Working with your former teachers is kind of scary but i'm getting the hang of it. :)

Perhaps, what happened 22 years ago is a foretelling of what acky has now. While alexie back in 1997 vowed not to go back to belgium since it was a "dry" city--( she studied there for a year and half 2004-2005)... i wonder what is it in for me?.. though i remember saying back in college that "i'll never date a xaverian... (tiger)"
