dealing with adversity

The traditional form of comfort is reassurance. One explains to the anxious that their fears are exaggerated and that events are sure to unfold in a desired direction.

It's only wednesday but my body says that it's already saturday. so many things have happened between today and the weekend that i can only describe as : emotional hell/ emotional rollercoaster.

i have to say, adversities do come once in awhile in this lifetime. in this workaday world as how it could be philosophically presented, life presents crossroads and it is our choice to take the roads that life presents us. we deal with it-- like how "being-in-the-world-with-others". funny that i'm taking this event/ opportunity as a way to unearth my frustrated philosophical meanderings, but that's only how i can resolve it to myself: that whatever philo class taught me, are all true.

yes, we are thrown in this world. and we learned how to swim in it. Just like how we cannot choose who are parents are, just like how we cannot choose who we are to meet each and everyday. it's like, God throwing lemons at me, i won't throw it back, i'll make lemonade for everyone. If he threw me 10,000 kaings of mangoes--- i'll make burong manga, mango berry, mango banana, mango cake, eat it as it is... i mean, there are so many thing you can do, and it's only how we take it that makes it's consequence.

it was a test. on everyone-- strength in character, dealing with adversity, "maturity", dealing with other people, and maybe, and most probably, friendship.

i've come and gone with organizations/ core groups that gave me warmth in memories. College days wont be college days without them, i believe everyone i met will agree with me. it's a matter of looking at it if it's a spike or a spice. In the end, you may not be together but memories of being together will give you that smile in your heart. (right orcom 2004? har har har.) I need not reiterate that even with my scandalizing sister, i had to deal with some petty argument that really tick both of us, and in the end, the strength of our friendship prevailed. we both wanted not to ruin a great friendship over something that just lasted a moment.

and i may be so redundant on all my posts, but if not for ASLA, maybe i would not know how to deal with this adversity that just came my way. (thanks to former VP Intal!) I learned how to compartmentalize and take the moment as it is. It's the situation and not you. But the thing is, it took me 3 years before i could say i really learned how to deal with it. it does come in time.

In the end--- Good News, Bad news, who knows?
